Tress Factor

Forget the shock Aiden eviction and panel bickering. For me, the most controversial thing about last night's X Factor was Cheryl's Minnie Mouse hair. How can someone so beautiful, so usually-pristine get it so utterly wrong. Yes, the hair bow is big news...Gaga's eccentric style means she can pull off a bow with aplomb, but on Chezza it looks more like prom hair gone wrong (made to look even more tacky by that red). With all these contrived, fussy updos, I'm beginning to think she's not overly keen on her new hue. If you missed it, 1. Where were you?, and 2. Here it is... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1329671/X-FACTOR-2010-Cheryl-Cole-shows-bizarre-Minnie-Mouse-hairstyle.html

The contestants, on the other hand, are looking better each week. Cher shunned last week's harsh pulled-back pony in favour of soft, waist-length waves, courtesy of session stylist Adam Reed and Hairaisers Pink Label extensions, £140 (hairaisers.com). Made from 100% human hair, these clip-in extensions add volume and length to flagging tresses.

To get Rebecca's 60s-esque bun, Adam wrapped the Hairaisers Secret Plaited Headband, £7, around a top knot. Great if your hair's too short or you're dexterously-challenged. Sx
