Beauty Q&A...

From Claire: Since starting Bikram yoga, where I sweat beyond human comprehension, I have developed an uneven skin surface on my forehead, in particular. I wonder whether others who work out and sweat have a similar situation. I'm guessing it's something to do with pores and clogging etc. Can you recommend a post-work-out cleanse and pore tightener?’

From Dr Sue Mayou, Consultant Dermatologist and member of the Neutrogena Skin Council: Firstly, make sure you remove all make-up before your yoga session, which will allow you to sweat freely without clogging the pores, which both causes skin problems and aggravates existing ones. It is important to cleanse skin twice a day and I would choose a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic cleanser to help prevent further clogging of the pores or one that contains salicylic acid to combat spots. Keep your hair clean as the oil in your hair will affect the skin on your forehead. You may also need to use a lighter moisturiser. It is also important to keep hydrated by drinking enough water when working out and sweating, as it is the water we drink which is the source of our skin’s hydration.

Try: Neutrogena Visbily Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash, £4.49 and Daily Scrub, £4.49 (nationwide) contain Salicylic acid to unclog blocked pores and smooth the skin.
