Try a Trend...The Wine Lip

I'm very lucky to have two drop-dead gorgeous sisters, who have kindly offered their facial services to illustrate A/W's top beauty trends...Kicking off this new and exciting section is the wine lip. Chic, vampy and impossibly glossy, it's the perfect partner to alabaster skin and a single slick of mascara. (Olive complexions can pull off burgundy shades too, while darker skin tones should opt for warmer, deep red shades).

Step 1. Line the lips with a burgundy liner. We used Mac Lip Liner in Currant, £10 (maccosmetics.co.uk). Once you've done that, fill in the shape with your liner. This will not only intensify the colour result, but give your lipstick extra staying power.

Step 2. Apply Revlon Matte Lipstick in Wine Not, £7.29 (Boots.com) directly from the bullet for all-out colour, and blot with a tissue.

Step 3. Finally apply a slick of gloss, the shinier the better.
